The Plan

Phase 1

Support the Interns & Educators

It all begins with FertilityCare Practitioner Interns (FCPI) and the educators who train them. Without educators, there are no interns. Without interns, there are no practitioners. Without practitioners, there is no ability to serve clients.

Supporting interns means ensuring each gains the education and confidence to teach their future clients in order to support a client’s unique needs. The current education curriculum is reliant on a fixed set of examples and factors outside the educator’s control (i.e. the specific intern's client caseload). Technology can fill the gaps to provide a limitless set of educational resources tuned to the individual needs of each intern.

TODAY

  • During EP1, Interns learn the VDRS and basic chart correcting using a limited set of instructional charts, exercises, and pre-client assignments.

TODAY

  • During SP1, interns learn the follow up form through practical experience with the initial caseload of clients.

TODAY

  • During EP2, interns need to remember to submit a case report (which includes the follow up form, GIF, client chart, and any relevant case management documents) to their supervisor for a client who has had 5 follow ups.

TOMORROW

  • Charts can be generated to exhibit a limitless number of examples which demonstrate a specific characteristic.

  • Pre-client assignments can be generated to provide limitless examples for interns to drill and truly internalize the method.

TOMORROW

  • Educators can simulate a follow up with specific characteristics to test whether the intern can identify the full range of advanced case management scenarios and properly document all the relevant sections of the follow up form.

TOMORROW

  • Having completed the fifth follow up for a client, an intern could be prompted to assemble the case report based on the data already present in the system.

  • MCRs and CRs for SP1 done after the second follow up could be prompted and assembled in a similar manner further decreasing the cognitive burden of interns improving the quality of their education.

  • These submissions are documented and tracked in a way that the supervisor and intern are both able to see.

New Technology: FC Classroom

As an Educator, I can…

  • Create exercises for my interns

    • Create cycles/charts which will help my interns learn specific concepts

      • Common charting errors

      • Advanced case management scenarios

    • Create supplemental pre-client assignments

  • Create and manage my education program(s)

    • Select which exercise my students should complete from the default set and those that I’ve created myself

    • Add/remove students to my program (which gives them access to the classroom)

As an Intern, I can…

  • Gain confidence using the VDRS

    • Know the correct stamp for a given observation

    • Know the meaning of the various VDRS codes (colors, consistencies, sensations, etc.)

  • Gain confidence reading and correcting charts

    • Identify which observations are valid and which are incomplete

    • Identify case where an incorrect stamp has been applied

  • Gain confidence using the follow up form in a simulated follow up setting

    • Know which sections to complete based on the chart provided by the instructor

    • Know the correct level of detail to provide in comments
